At 8:12 A.m. a major earthwquake hit a small town of Carmen located in the central Philippines. The massive earthquake was located 32 miles beneath earth's surface and struck a magnitude of 7.2. Renato Solidum, a director for the Philippine Seismology Institute said, “A magnitude seven earthquake has an energy equivalent to around 32 Hiroshima atomic bombs,” “This one had a magnitude of 7.2.” 67 people were inujured in this earthquake & countless hundreds more were injured; but that's not all of the damage. Some of the Philippines oldest structures were taken down during this quake, leaving people in shock. The quake was felt from many islands away; buildings and injuries were also recorded there. One historic church was taken down; it was built in 1602.
